FAQs

How much is it?

Each package includes the filming & editing. If you would like to purchase scripts, you can select this option when you fill out your booking form. Our most popular package is the Three Scene Package. Click here for more info.

One Scene Top-Up: £225

Two Scene Top-Up: £325

Three Scene Package: £425

Period Package: £695

Sharer Showreel: £695

Can you write personalised scripts for me?

Absolutely! We strongly suggest that you opt for our personalised script service. We know what works in a Showreel! Scripts are the most important thing, so let us use our knowledge and expertise to write you scenes that will show you off!

If you decide to go for this service then we will put you in touch with Dan, our writer. We then ask you to send us a detailed, concise brief before writing your personalised scenes, specifically created for your Showreel. Please note that is it not a ‘back and forth’ collaboration. The fee includes the writing of one final draft, this is why we ask for as much information as possible when sending us your brief.

If you wish to write your own, then please visit our Writing Your Own Script page.

Please note: If you decide to bring your own script it must be an original script, due to copywrite. Scripts from TV Shows, Films, or scripts found online are NOT permitted.

Can I ‘mix & match’ packages?

Some people ask whether they can book the ‘Three Scene Package’ and shoot two modern scenes and one period scene to make up their three scenes. Due to hiring locations and travel time, it is not possible to mix and match packages. When completing your Booking Form, please select one of the packages we offer.

How do I secure my booking & when do I pay?

Once we agree on a date, we ask for a £100 non-refundable deposit to secure the booking. Extras such as scripts and location hire are also due prior to the shoot. The remainder of your showreel payment is due the day before the shoot.

Can I change the date of my booking?

If you need to reschedule your Showreel date for any reason you can do so at a cost of £50. If we have less than 14 days notice then it is a £100 reschedule fee. This is due to the unlikelihood of us managing to fill the vacant slot with such short notice.

How does the editing process work?

The editing process actually begins while we are shooting. Directing and DOP’ing each scene allows us to have a clear vision of what each scene will look like by the time they’re sent to you. The editing process is not a back and forth collaboration. Certain takes are used for certain reasons; whether that’s audio, continuity, focus or performance. Individual takes are not sent to the actor for review and re-edits are not included in the fee.

How long does a session take?

We like to spend as long as it takes to get a scene right. Obviously, we are filming one-minute scenes, so there’s usually only so long you can spend on each scene. With run-throughs, direction, multiple takes and sound interruptions it tends to take around an hour and a half per scene. If you or one of your actors needs to be finished by a certain time then we’ll take this into consideration when scheduling the day.

Depending on what package you have booked, here are the timings of the day. Please only call your actors for the scene they are in.

Scene 1 - 10:30

Scene 2 - 11:45

Scene 3 - 13:00

Please note: If you have booked the Period Package we will let you know your timings nearer to the time!

Do you source locations?

The key to a good location is good lighting and sound conditions. We understand why actors like the idea of filming in places like pubs and restaurants, however, if we don’t have full control over the whole location, it can be extremely detrimental to the quality of the final product.

Please read our guide on choosing locations:

Do you source actors?

Ryan Kirwan Films do not provide actors for your Showreel.

If you are struggling to find scene partners then we suggest heading over to social media platforms such as Twitter & Instagram and posting up a call out.

If you tag us @ryankirwanfilms then we will happily re-post your casting call, however please make it clear in the post that the actors should get in touch with you, not us.

Do you supply costumes?

Ryan Kirwan Films do not supply any costumes you may need for your scenes. If you are filming a Period Package with us, we have some costumes available to hire through the location owner, who you will be put in touch with once you have booked.

When can I expect the final edit?

We will have your final edit with you within three weeks of the shoot day. We aim for earlier, but due to our incredibly busy schedule we allow ourselves a bit of extra time to make sure we deliver the best product. If you would like a 48 hour express edit for this package it is an additional cost:

One Scene Top-Up 48 Hour Edit: £50

Two Scene Top-Up 48 Hour Edit: £75

Three Scene Package 48 Hour Edit: £100

Sharer Showreel 48 Hour Edit: £150

Period Package 48 Hour Edit: £150

What equipment do you use?

All footage is filmed on the incredible Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K, using multiple Zeiss CP.2 & Sigma Cine Lenses. For sound, we use industry-standard Sennheiser & Rode Microphones. For larger shoots we also have the Sony FX6 Cinema Camera to run as a dual camera, the DJI RS2 Gimble, & Hollyland Mars 300 HD Transmitters, allowing clients/ directors to watch live action through a 4K monitor.

The footage is edited, mixed and colour graded using the latest Da Vinci Resolve Studio & Final Cut Pro.

Can you send me the RAW files?

We do not send any RAW files. We are extremely proud of our product and know exactly what works well for showreels. Trust us, we know what we’re doing!

Will you travel to me?

Of course, however to ensure we can make the most of the day and not lose time to inner-city traffic and waste time finding parking, some central London locations will require an additional taxi fare. Feel free to drop us a message if you have any specific questions on this. More information on this can be found here.

Please note: extra charges such as parking and the congestion zone are to be paid by the client if they have sourced locations that require these.

How can I book you?

Simply head to our Book Now page and fill in our Booking Form! Our Administrative Assistant, Katarina will get back to you within a few hours!
